House to defend 'pork' at SC
MANILA - House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales II on Wednesday said the House of Representatives will respond to a petition filed at the Supreme Court assailing the constitutionality of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
"We will answer, if the petition refers to the 2014. Unang-una it's premature in the sense we have not yet enacted any budget and even because of the direction we're taking and I'm sure (House Speaker Sonny Belmonte) will formally announce later on the mandate of the committee [which] is to take away, delete the provision of PDAF as lump-sum appropriation," he said in a statement.
"Wala nang issue ito that can be resolved by the petition," Gonzales added.
"Walang case. No actual controversy. It's a term paper asking the Supreme Court for a legal opinion," he said.
