NBI probe to continue despite chief's resignation - Palace
MANILA - Malacañang said the National Bureau of Investigation's (NBI) probe into the pork barrel scam will continue despite the resignation of its director, Nonnatus Rojas.
Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda added there is no effort from any Cabinet official to stop the investigation.
There is no word yet on whether President Aquino is accepting Rojas' resignation.
"The NBI investigation will continue [despite the] resignation of Director Noni Rojas. The investigation continues. Remember, attached agency ng [Department of Justice] ang NBI. So si Secretary Leila de Lima is on top of it," Lacierda said.
"You can be assured that no Cabinet official is interfering in the investigation," Lacierda stressed.
Lacierda declined to comment on an allegation made by Lolit Solis linking Executive Secretary Jojo Ochoa and Presidential Management Staff chief Julia Abad to Janet Napoles.
"Di na kami magkokomento dyan, kasi papatulan pa ba namin si Lolit Solis?" Lacierda asked.
Asked why it is taking so long for the NBI to complete its investigation, Lacierda said de Lima wants the case build-up to be "thorough.”
