Neophyte lawmakers to lay out stand on PDAF
MANILA – Aside from the leaders of the House of Representatives, neophyte lawmakers are also trying to come up with a common position on the abolition of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of lawmakers.
A huddle of neophyte lawmakers, which included Taguig Rep. Lino Cayetano, was caught on camera appearing to go over a document during the plenary session on Wednesday.
AKBAYAN Rep. Barry Gutierrez confirmed that the neophyte lawmakers are trying to come up with a common position on the PDAF abolition.
“We’re still talking, ‘di pa final ‘yan. I can tell you there’s a strong push na suportahan ang abolition. We’re working it out if willing dalhin ‘yun ng karamihan ng members,” he said.
Gutierrez revealed that the neophytes have been discussing the matter of the PDAF for weeks now.
They may come out with a common position if some 40 to 50 of the 80 neophytes sign on.
The common position may come out on Monday.
Gutierrez said they are trying to consider the positions and backgrounds of the members.
