MANILA – Ely Pamatong, the alleged brains in the foiled Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 bombing, was released from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) detention facility on Friday after posting bail.

Pamatong, who was arrested last Wednesday after arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 from Cagayan de Oro City, posted a bail of P2,000 for his case of malicious mischief and P12,000 for his case of inciting to sedition.

The NBI earlier said the arrest is not linked to the foiled bombing but to the "spike attack" of Pamatong's supporters on EDSA in 2004. The agency said the arrest warrant was issued by a Quezon City court.

Pamatong rose to infamy in 2004 after his supporters scattered steel spikes on EDSA following his derailed presidential bid.

Pamatong earlier claimed that the suspects in the foiled Sept. 1 bombing of the NAIA-3 were framed.

He said one of the suspects, Grandeur "Jojo" Guerrero, is his chief of staff in his organization called "United States Allied Freedom Fighters of the East (USAFFE).

Pamatong claimed that a military plot is behind the arrest of Guerrero, Emmanuel San Pedro, and Sonny Yohanon.

He alleged that Magdalo-affiliated soldiers framed up Guerrero. "He is one of the best persons and leaders I ever had for 12 years. Iyan ang chief-of-staff ko."

"He was framed by the Magdalo faction of Senator [Antonio] Trillanes [IV]," he claimed. "Kasi ito si Senator Trillanes, sa palagay ko agent yan ng China sa Pilipinas."

"Gusto nila sirain ang 'United States freedom fighter' [sic] dahil napakalaking million-march sa Davao for American [sic] and protest against China's occupation of Philippine territories," Pamatong alleged.

Trillanes has dismissed Pamatong's allegations. – with a report from Ricky Velasco, dzMM
