PNoy won't intervene in RH debates
MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino will not intervene in the congressional debates about the Reproductive Health bill even if his allies are divided on the issue.
“At this point, we leave it to the House and the Senate to work out whatever deals or compromises they see fit as far as the RH bill is concerned,” Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office (PCDSPO) Secretary Ricky Carandang told reporters.
Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda earlier said the Palace will not ask Congress to hold a special session for the RH Bill.
Sen. Jinggoy Estrada earlier said the RH bill has as many supporters as opponents in the Senate, more than a year after it was sponsored on the Senate floor.
He said the Senate seems to be deadlocked at 10 senators voting for the bill, and 10 senators against it.
He said 3 senators, including himself, are undecided. The other two are running for reelection in 2013.
