'Aquino a weak leader, Robredo a political eunuch'
MANILA, Philippines - Allies of former President Arroyo on Wednesday lashed out at President Benigno Aquino III for mishandling the August 23 hostage crisis.
Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay said Aquino's ineffective style of leadership has led to various problems in his own Cabinet.
"It manifests the weak leadership of Mr. Aquino," she told reporters at the House of Representatives.
Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman said Aquino has rendered Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo a "political eunuch" when he was stripped of his power to supervise the Philippine National Police.
The minority lawmaker said the PNP law specifically names the DILG chief as the chair of the National Police Commission and not a DILG undersecretary as claimed by Aquino.
Lagman also questioned Aquino's statement that Robredo is merely on an acting capacity in the DILG and is on probation.
"Robredo's nomination wasn't submitted to the Commission on Appointments on the pretext his appointment is an acting secretary but you will recall when his appointment was announced on July 9, there was no condition. It wasn't subject to condition. It was only temporary. It could be second thoughts. It is basically ambivalence on his part and always (a) delayed reaction to crucial events," he said.
He added that if Robredo has any self-esteem left, he should resign with alacrity and save himself from further embarrassment and the DILG from a damaged leadership.
Lagman said the minority still wants to cooperate with the administration but it will be hard to cooperate with something wrong.
Magsaysay advised the President to tap the best people for top posts in government. "Nobody possesses ultimate knowledge. You can always tap the best wisdom, knowledge, skills...Maybe that's what President Aquino should do," she said.
She said that aside from Robredo, there are other officials appointed by the President who are really incompetent.
"It's not just Secretary Robredo who should resign. It's already admitted and Robredo cannot wash his hands. Kahit sabihin mo sa amin na in-charge ka lang sa local governments di ba si Manila Mayor (Alfredo) Lim is with the local government. Dapat nagdialogue siya kay Lim. Would we still entrust government to these kinds of people? No one is indispensable. Anybody can be removed."

Management 101
“A nation in peace can be managed – in crisis they MUST BE LED”
Scenario: Hostage taking;
Hostages: Foreign nationals;
Implication: Any which way it ends, the crisis will have an international repercussion.
Hostage taker: Lone ex-policeman demanding immediate resolution of his pending case with the Ombudsman;
Given this situation what would you do if you were the President?
Let us offer solution and not be part of the problem, we are his Boss are we not?
A weak Leader
Psylom, wait and see, changes already happening. I felt it last week. While you wait, keep yourself busy, do some good things! for heaven's sake!.
Yellow Zombies
I am with psylom and stella. That's the best excuse you "yellow zombies" can provide, the "Wait and See".
DJKris
Is that all you people want to do? Wait and see? How many times have you people said that? Nothing is happening. In fact it's starting to get worse what with the FACTIONS dividing his people and the wrong persons he picked for the job. Puno for one is slacking on the job.
Anyway you're wrong. I've always been busy, in fact a lot of people have been busy, working in shifts from Monday to Saturday to bring food to the table while our own President prefers to sleep at 2 pm in the afternoon.
If that's the change you're talking about then I don't want any of that. I've always said before that Noynoy is lazy and Puno blurting that Noynoy slept while there is a crisis is confirmation of that. A President DON'T SLEEP ON THE JOB. Especially if there is a crisis.
We're likely to wait the whole 6 years and NOT see a glimmer of "change" if Noynoy continues to do what he likes to do. SLEEPING.
A weak Leader
He really is weak and incompetent. No matter how his drum beaters project him otherwise but still his slip constantly shows.
Ayaw pa rin ng Pinoy ng Pagbabago
I agree with "lemron", we should do research first or at least know his accomplishments and what he'd done to his City.Please do not judge Mr. Robredo on the basis of todays crisis. He's not the only person responsible on that tragic day that makes our country put on the shame limelight.May mali ang ating mga Pulis, may mali rin ang Media at maging ang ating Presidente ay umamin din na may mali sya.
but for let us think of what he can do to change our country like what he did in Naga City. A good example of that is "Transparency". If this will be implemented to all the Local Governments in our country, mababawasan ang Corruption.Many people oppose to him because they know their days are numbered pag sya ang may hawak ng DILG.especially yung mga pulitikong may koneksiyon sa huweteng at prostitusyon. Sad but true, many Filipinos don't know this fact.
Lagman might be opposing Robredo because that is his specialty, yan yung trabaho nya, puro batikos kahit saang admistrayson.
the best day ever!
so far noynoy himself is not accused of taking money from the philippines cavan. be warned though watch his people, he can only fire them with your cooperation.
Just because Noynoy is not
Just because Noynoy is not stealing from the country's coffers does not make it "the best day ever".
He's unable to control his people. He's having a management crisis because he has no idea how to manage. He is even clueless when it comes to assigning the RIGHT people for the job which evidently we can now see in Puno.
So how do you justify "the best day ever" crap? We're still going down the drain one way or another.
