Palace unfazed by Noynoy's bid
Ermita says machinery is key to victory
MANILA - The Arroyo administration is not threatened by Senator Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino's presidential bid.
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said Aquino's popularity was due to the outpouring of support for his late mother, former President Corazon Aquino, but doubts if the euphoria will last until the 2010 elections.
Ermita also expressed confidence that the presidential candidate of the administration coalition, Lakas-Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-KAMPI-CMD), will be able to defeat Aquino.
Lakas-KAMPI-CMD is still in the process of choosing its standard-bearer, and one of those being considered is Aquino's cousin, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro.
"You can be very sure that the reason why ang Lakas-KAMPI ay may sinusunod na proseso ay para makasiguro tayo na 'yung mapipili natin ay winnable," Ermita said.
He said the Lakas-KAMPI-CMD bet will have the benefit of the administration machinery.
Ermita said the recent expression of support of the majority of the country's provincial governors for Teodoro is "very, very significant."
But he added that President Arroyo has not endorsed Teodoro and that the Palace has not given any order to the governors to support Teodoro.
Ermita also acknowledged that some members of the Lakas-KAMPI-CMD may abandon the ruling party and support the opposition.
He said the ruling party has no plan to conduct a loyalty check since this would only indicate that the Lakas-KAMPI-CMD is in a state of panic, "which we are not."
Ermita said he is confident about the maturity and statesmanship of Lakas-KAMPI-CMD members.
Around 50 Lakas originals led by former President Fidel Ramos and former House Speaker Jose de Venecia "regrouped" last Tuesday, signaling another crack in the ruling party.
The more, the merrier
Meanwhile, Vice President Noli de Castro on Wednesday welcomed the decision of Sen. Noynoy Aquino to run in the 2010 presidential elections, adding that the more candidates there are, the better for voters.
De Castro said the number of candidates vying for the presidency is not an issue as long as all the candidates who intend to run have the best intentions for the country and have no vested interest.
He refused to comment when asked if he thinks Aquino is an opponent that would be hard to beat.
De Castro said he hasn't thought that far because he has yet to decide if he will join the presidential race.
He also clarified reports that he would be announcing his decision on Sept. 15, the deadline set by the Lakas-KAMPI-CMD. He said he just read the date in the newspaper, but he never said that he planned to make an announcement next week.
De Castro said nobody can dictate when his announcement would be, and he has set his own deadline but he wants to keep it to himself at the moment.
Meantime, de Castro said he is hoping that Lakas-KAMPI-CMD and the original Lakas party led by former President Ramos, could settle their differences and unite to have only one common candidate. -- reports from ANC; Willard Cheng, Sheryll Mundo, ABS-CBN News

Huwag mo ng paulit-ulit na pinoproblema yang hacienda luisita, hindi ka naman diyan nakatira e...at tsaka yun mismo mga taga hacienda e walang reklamo, ikaw pa kaya...isa pa siyempre hindi naman yan ipagdadamot ni Noynoy dahil alam naman natin na talagang makadiyos sila at isinasaalang-alang ang mga mamamayan. Malay mo pag naging pangulo na siya ay magawa niya maipamahagi yung mga nararapat para sa mga magsasaka diyan sa hacienda. ang mahalaga nasa kanya ang tunay na idelohiyang mabago ang sistema ng pamahalaan at ang pagiging makabayan at malasakit sa bayan, na wala sa mga nakaupo sa kasalukuyan at maging sa mga naghahangad na maupo sa puwesto, puro lang pansarili nila ang iniingatan at aalagaan pag sila'y nakaupo na..pero kung inyong susumahin kahit na sinong marunong tumingin sa isang tao, hindi niyo mababanaagan kay Noynoy na may masama siyang hangarin sa politika, dahil meron siyang breeding at dignidad at pangalang pinangangalagaan. Mabuti pa ang mga magsasaka namin, may sariling mga lupa na dahil nakinabang sila sa CARP ni Cory. Sa dinami-dami ng mga magsasaka, ang mga magsasaka lang ng Hacienda Luisita ang mga walang lupa. I don't mean to judge Noynoy, ito'y isang hamon sa kanya. Kung mismo sa maliit na bakuran niya marami ang naghihirap, ano pa kaya kung buong bansa na ang hahawakan niya? Kung mismo sa maliit na bakuran niya hindi siya makashare ng lupa sa mga taong nakatulong sa kanila, ano pa kaya ang maiibigay niyang tulong mga taong di nakatulong sa kanya?

dont be judgemental to Noy? u dont know the real what happen on Hacienda Luisita? xempre ang tao nman kasi minsan pag bgyan mo ng pagkain gusto pati kamay mo kainin pah? sobra-sobra nman ksi ang hinihingi ng mga tao na nagtrabaho sa hacienda hndi na rin mkatarungan kya normal lang sa mga nagmamay-ari ng lupa ng humingi din ng konting pag-intindi? nung mailunsad ang carp favor na un sa mga magsasaka? pero ang iba kasi nagsasamantala nah? kya dis tym we hope that Noynoy can prepare himself to handle on that issue and make all those things closed. also he must prepare himself the issue regarding his uncle businessman Danding Cojuangco. anything, can be solved if you are sincere in a good governance so we hope in a couple of days Noy can present his platform for the benefits of our nation..<...Truly God commands you to give back trusts to those to whom they are due, and when you judge between people, to judge with justice....> (Quran,4:58) And He has said: <.... Hacienda Luisita
Ang CARP ay ginawa ni Cory para sa mga magsasaka. Pero sariling Hacienda Luisita nila ay exempted sa CARP. Kawawang mga magsasaka ng Hacienda Luisita, wala talagang pag-asang makapagmay-ari ng lupa. Kung sino pa ang mga magsasakang sakop ni Cory ay sila pa ang bigo.
Kung talagang taos-puso si Noynoy na tumulong sa mga Pilipino, unahin na muna niya ang kanilang magsasaka na hanggang ngayon ay mahirap pa rin at wala pang sariling lupa.
Administration's Advantage
It is the administration's advantage to use whatever political machinery they could use. No wonder, a lot of oppositions wanted to sit as president so they too could taste the goodness of power.
Machinery funded by People's money
The political machinery which ermita is bragging about is funded with billions of people's money through the pork barrel kickback system. I hope Noynoy, if elected, will remove the pork barrel from conressmen, senators and local officials. This is really the source of corruption, as it bedevils young and old politicians alike. I am sure Noynoy will change this; WE ONLY NEED TO VOTE FOR HIM!
