Truck with Arroyo security escorts hits tricycle; 1 killed

One person died while another was injured when a Philippine Army truck carrying President Arroyo's security escorts crashed into a tricycle in Gapan City in Nueva Ecija province on Friday.
Reports gathered by ABS-CBN News identified the fatality as Leopoldo Odullo, 63. He died while undergoing medical treatment at the Cabanatuan General Hospital.
The other victim was Roel Tecson, 20. As of posting, he was under observation at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Gapan.
Earlier reports said the Army truck lost its breaks and slammed into a tricycle which was carrying the two victims.
The Army truck was transporting members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) out of Nueva Ecija. The PSG men were with Mrs. Arroyo in her official visit to San Isidro town.
The Office of the President had reportedly left an employee to accompany the victims to the hospital. Mrs. Arroyo's office had also promised to pay all the medical bills of the two victims, the reports said.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN News also gathered that on Thursday, a part of the PSG's convoy also accidentally hit a third-year high school student in Bangbang, Nueva Viscaya.
The student was reportedly airlifted to V. Luna Hospital in Quezon City for treatment.
The accident happened while the PSG convoy was on its way back from Isabela province, which was also visited by Mrs. Arroyo.
