Puno goes mum again after Senate hearing
MANILA - After appearing surprisingly in the Senate hearing today, resigned Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Rico Puno went silent again and refused to give a statement to the media.
Members of media asked Puno many questions, but he opted not to say anything at all.
After the hearing was adjourned, Puno went straight out of the session hall while his bodyguards prevented cameraman and photographers from getting near him.
The media followed him all the way to his vehicle in an attempt to get a statement from him but all were ignored by Puno until he was able to ride his car and leave the Senate vicinity in a rush.
Meanwhile, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Nicanor Bartolome also tried to evade questions from the media regarding the issue on his possible assumption as next DILG undersecretary replacing Puno.
All Bartolome said was "it will be for the President to announce."
Bartolome's bodyguards barred the media from entering their lounge provided by the Senate, thus preventing further interviews from the reporters.
