Binay: Too early to talk about 2016 polls
MANILA, Philippines - Vice-President Jejomar Binay said Friday that it is too early to talk about the 2016 polls and his plans to run as president.
Although Binay admitted eyeing the position, he said the elections are still far away.
"Nung natanong ko ang sinabi talagang minimithi ko, malayo pa naman ang eleksyon," he said. "Iyung responsibilidad na pinataw sakin ni Noynoy, gawin muna natin yun."
"Wala pa namang oras iyun, saka na mag-usap usap pag panahon ng kampanya," Binay added.
He also does not see anything wrong in President Benigno Aquino appointing people who lost in the 2010 elections.
"Okay lang iyun, wala namang masama. Sa pamumuno dapat kasama iyung paniniwala ng administrasyon mo, eto mga kasama nya sa partido, qualified naman," Binay said. "I don't see anything wrong with it."
"Wualified naman yung mga nilagay niya. Palagay ko naman yung mga napipili katulad ni [new Customs Commissioner Ruffy] Biazon, malinis naman record nun, naininiwala sa good governance, mga pawang tututugon sa panawagan ni Noynoy ng matuloy tayo sa matuwid na daan," he added.
He was among the guests in an event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Senate's rejection of a new treaty extending the stay of US military bases in the Philippines.
Binay, a member of lawyers group Mabini, said he was among the ranks of nationalists opposing the stay of the military bases.
"Sabi ko nga noon, di naman ako instant nationalist nun, kami yung nasa student council ng UP... that's a matter of principle."
HOCUS PCOS PRESIDENT - THE SHENANIGANS DURING 2010 PRESIDENTIAL
many organizations and election watchdogs have been questioning the credibility and the reliability of the PCOS machines and the result of the 2012 presidential election as a whole. many have come up to attest that there was indeed massive electronic fraud.
even the president and his political party who had earlier raised alarm over electronic fraud suddenly have no interest looking into these manifestations of fraud.
AES Watch, We Watch, Cenpeg,MGG, IT experts and various independent groups are in unison in claiming that the result of 2010 presidential election remains in question.
according to an IT expert, "76,472 PCOS machines deployed throughout the country, 8,939 PCOS machines were not able to transmit their election returns to the COMELEC main office. This was a transmission failure rate of 11.7 percent."
additionally, 25,888 PCOS machines sent incomplete (ERs) and some showed no entries for local executives, as well as members of Congress. This was a failure of 38.5 percent of the PCOS machines, the IT expert said, adding that 38.5 percent have missing data in one or more candidate-positions.
Edmundo Casino of the Philippine Computer Society pointed to several other problems such as the following:
- PCOS machines’ failure to detect fake ballots (this option was disabled in the Smartmatic PCOS because of the high rejection rate of good ballots fed into the machines).
-There were no digital signatures applied to the ERs, “preventing votes to be authenticated and verified
-Government had to recall defective compact flash memory cards for all 76,000 PCOS machines distributed nationwide a week before May 2010 elections because of software or hardware errors.
these are just few of the defects found in PCOS machines that were used during the presidential election. that being the case, noynoy's presidency remains in question.
