MANILA - Senate finance committee chairman Franklin Drilon on Monday vowed to closely look into the special purpose fund in the proposed 2013 budget, which a civil society group has questioned.
"Pag-aaralan natin. Magkakaroon ako ng hiwalay na hearing sa special purpose fund at unprogrammed fund," he told reporters.
Senator Loren Legarda also called on her fellow lawmakers to study that particular item in the budget carefully.
"Magandang pakinggan, pero kailangan nating tingnan kung saan mapupunta 'yan," she said.
Early this month, Social Watch Philippines questioned the special purpose funds or lump sum appropriations in the proposed 2013 national budget amounting to P317 billion without breakdowns.
