Palace hopes PNoy touch will help admin bets
MANILA, Philippines - The Palace is hoping that the President's high satisfaction ratings will help boost the chances of administration senatorial candidates in the 2013 midterm elections.
"Certainly, we would hope so," Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said. "We do believe that the President has a positive influence."
Lacierda said it is still too early to conclude on the projected candidates' chances of winning, saying that ratings may improve once candidacies have been formally declared.
"Malakas ang sipa ng isang kandidato kapag nag-declare na ng candidacy e. So that's where conversion comes in. So wait for the next survey saka natin malalaman kung ano ang epekto po nun," he said.
Lacierda could not say if the survey ratings of the administration's projected bets were affected by being perceived as "epal" by joining the President's sorties way before the start of the campaign period.
"I think nagpaliwanag po 'yung mga sumama kung bakit sila naroon. But, again, these are criticisms [which are] separate from an official survey that will be conducted after they announce their candidacy. Doon natin malalaman talaga kung ano talaga ang magiging estado ng mga kandidato. Again, it's too early to say. Wala pa kasing formal announcement ang administration coalition," Lacierda said.
