Ex-envoy rues release of Brady diaries
MANILA, Philippines - A former ambassador warns the disclosure of sensitive information about diplomatic meetings with China compromises the Philippines' position.
Former Presidential Adviser for Foreign Affairs Apolinario Lozada said having a disunited front puts the country in a dangerous situation and will make the Philippines the laughing stock of other countries.
“This is a very dangerous situation. We have to put a united front. Otherwise nagmumukha lang tayong katawa-tawa sa ibang bansa,” he said.
Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile earlier read the notes of Philippine Ambassador to Beijing Sonia Brady about the secret meetings of Senator Antonio Trillanes with Chinese officials. The diaries reveal Trillanes allegedly met with Chinese officials at least 16 times at the height of tensions in Scarborough Shoal.
