DOJ Prosecutors in Zambo for case prep vs MNLF
MANILA - State prosecutors tasked to assist the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) in strengthening the cases against members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) responsible for the ongoing siege on parts of Zamboanga City are already in the area.
Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said that the team will help determine the weight of evidence against the MNLF fighters.
Officers and agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) based in Zamboanga are also assisting the Department of Justice (DOJ) team, De Lima added.
The DOJ team is composed of Asst. State Prosecutors Niven Canlapan and Aristotle Reyes, Prosecution Attorney Cesar Angelo Chavez III, Asst. Regional Prosecutor Ivy Damayo Elvinas of the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Prosecutor's Office, and Asst. City Prosecutor Edwinlino Custodio of the Zamboanga City Prosecutor's Office.
