Lito Lapid 'fears' RH debates due to bad English
MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Lito Lapid wants to join the Senate debates on the controversial Reproductive Health Bill but is hesitant because he is not fluent in English.
Speaking to Senate reporters, Lapid said he is afraid to debate with RH bill co-sponsors Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago and Sen. Pia Cayetano because he might not be able to answer adequately in English.
“I’m not used to it. Firstly, I’m at a loss for words because I did not finish school. I also hardly read and even if I’ll try to catch up with my reading to be at par to them, it would take a lot of effort especially since these senators spent 10 years or more in school, what more of those senator-lawyers,” he was quoted as saying in a Daily Tribune report.
One of Lapid's concerns is the possible effect of artificial contraceptives on babies.
“I’ve seen them mostly in provinces. Could it be because of some medicines? In most cases, especially in the provinces, the youngest child ends up being mongoloid. I wonder who could provide me the answer to this question,” he said.
Reports said Santiago and Cayetano are willing to debate Lapid in Filipino.

How long has he been a senator? why only now that he realized you need to at least be able to express your self much less to comprehend the english language. Can you imagine if he ran for the presidency? Oh yeah, let manny p be his side kick and let's see what will happen to this republic.

Huwag ka nang maki pag debate para ma ipasa na kaagad and RH Bill na dapat na talagang ma aprubahan. Isa sa mga rason na marami kang nakitang mongoloid sa lugar nyo ay dahil sa ignorance nang mga magulang tungkol sa artificial contraception. Para ma educate sila, sumang-ayon ka na lang a RH bill...huwag ka nang kumontra.

senador ka nga. representative ka ng buong bansa, kalayaan mong magsalita sa paraang alam mo nang walang hahadlang sayo. bakit namomroblema sia sa bagay na hindi naman dapat problemahin. kung pinagmamalaki mo ang sarili mong wika gamitin mo ito nang walang pagaalinlangan at dapat hindi ka natatakot. hindi sukatan ng katalinuhan nang isang tao kung magaling kang mag ingles.
advice ko kay senator lapid. tumayo ka at magsalita. hindi hadlang kung hindi ka marunong magingles. ang hadlang ay dahil natatakot ka lang.

Bakit dapat bang kaawaan ang taong di marunong mag ingles? Mag tagalog na lang sila. Para mas madali, huwag na lang syang kumontra para ma ipasa na kaagad ang RH Bill.
