MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino's net satisfaction rating has returned to "very good" territory following a decrease earlier this year, the latest Social Weather Stations survey revealed Monday.

The survey, conducted September 4-7, 2011, showed that 7 out of 10 Filipinos are satisfied with the President's performance, compared to only 14% who are dissatisfied.

Public satisfaction with President Aquino improved by 10 percentage points, from +46 in June to +56 this month. The President's net satisfaction rating is only 4 percentage points below his +60 rating exactly one year ago. 

The biggest improvement in satisfaction came from Balance Luzon respondents, from 60% in June to 74% in September. Visayas respondents were also more satisfied with Aquino (from 67% to 70%) while Metro Manila (62%-61%) and Mindanao respondents (71%-68%) showed slight decreases in satisfaction.

Satisfaction among rural respondents went up by 10 percentage points, from 65% last June to 75% this month. Satisfaction also increased among urban respondents from 63% in June to 66% this month.

However, satisfaction dipped slightly among Class ABC respondents, from 74% to 69% in the past three months, while improving among Class D respondents, from 63% to 72% during the same period.

The quarterly Social Weather Survey on public satisfaction with the President is a non-commissioned item, and is included on SWS's own initiative and released as a public service, with first printing rights assigned to BusinessWorld.

The survey interviewed 1,200 adults in Metro Manila, the Balance of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. It has sampling error margins of ±3% for national percentages and ±6% for area percentages. With a report from BusinessWorld
