'Former Palace consultant sold condo unit to Napoles'
MANILA – A whistleblower in the pork barrel scam on Thursday said a former consultant for the Palace sold a condominium unit to businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles, the alleged mastermind in the multi-billion scam.
Marina Sula, one of the whistleblowers who attended today's Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing, confirmed an earlier report that Yamsuan sold his condominium units at Rockwell Center in Makati City.
"Nagpunta kasi siya sa office sa Discovery, mayroon siyang in-offer na condo sa Rockwell na nakapangalan sa misis niya na binili ni Ms. Janet Napoles," Sula told Senator Francis Escudero.
Sula said the transfer of the properties was not completed because of incomplete documentary requirements.
VERA Files earlier reported that Yamsuan, former consultant to Executive Secretary Paquito “Jojo” Ochoa, was allegedly indebted to Napoles due to his gambling.
VERA Files said a source disclosed that Yamsuan had to sell his two units in Rockwell and some vehicles due to debt. Despite this, Yamsuan was still short by several millions to fully pay his debts.
Yamsuan then sought the help of a senator, who in turn called Napoles to lend the consultant money.
Yamsuan was fired after the Palace learned that he brokered Napoles’ meeting with editors of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
