PNoy visits wake of slain soldier
MANILA - President Aquino visited the wake of 1st Lt. John Kristopher Rama in Norzagaray, Bulacan and condoled with family of the soldier who died in the standoff with Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) fighters in Zamboanga.
Rama was killed while conducting clearing operations in Zamboanga on September 19. He was 30 years old.
Rama, a member of PMA class of 2008, leaves behind his wife Erlinda and two year old daughter.
The President promised financial, education, and housing assistance to the family of the slain soldier.
Erlinda expressed gratitude for the help and honors that his husband received.
"Malaking karangalan na kinikilalang hero po ang asawa ko," she told reporters.
Rama's death was especially painful for Erlinda. She was celebrating her birthday on the day her husband died.
"Alam kong masaya ka na, I love you and gabayan mo lang kami parati," Erlinda said of her message to her husband.
The President is also visiting the wake of 2LT Florencio Mikael Esguerra Meneses in Pulilan, Bulacan and 1LT Francis Damian in Camp Aguinaldo.
