Let's give new BOC officials a chance - Palace
MANILA -- Malacanang asked the public to give the Bureau of Customs (BOC) enough time to clean up the corruption there.
This, after Malacanang announced on Saturday that President Benigno Aquino III has replaced all the deputies of Commissioner Ruffy Biazon.
“Let’s give them time, let’s monitor how they will be able to erase corruption there,” Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office (PCDSPO) chief Ricky Carandang said in an interview with radio dzRB, adding that the BOC will be able to collect P200 billion more in revenues per year, if reforms are put in place to end corruption.
Carandang also clarified that former Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief Jessie Dellosa was appointed as deputy commissioner for the BOC Enforcement Group, replacing Horacio Suansing Jr.
He said Dellosa is only temporarily the chief of the intelligence team, which used to be headed by resigned BOC deputy commissioner Danilo Lim.
Meanwhile, Primo B. Aguas was named as deputy commissioner for Management Information Systems and Technology Group, replacing Maria Caridad T. Manarang; and Agaton Teodoro O. Uvero as deputy commissioner for Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group, replacing Prudencio M. Reyes.
