'Pepeng' seen to hit northern Luzon
MANILA - Three provinces in Bicol region were placed under Storm Signal No. 1, two days ahead of the predicted landfall of typhoon "Pepeng" (international codename Parma) in northern Luzon.
As of 5 a.m. Thursday, the typhoon was located 650 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar. It has gained more strength since it entered Philippine territory, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour and gust of up to 185 kph.
It was moving west northwest at 24 kph, and was predicted by weather bureau PAGASA to make landfall on Saturday afternoon in Aurora town, Isabela province.
PAGASA has hoisted Storm Signal No. 1 over Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes, which have been placed by Malacañang under a state of calamity due to tropical storm Ondoy (international codename Ketsana).
PAGASA said "Pepeng," which it said may develop into a super typhoon, will move closer to Catanduanes by Friday morning and Saturday morning.
After making landfall in Isabela, the typhoon was forecast to cross Northern Luzon and hit the provinces of Kalinga, Abra and Mountain Provinces before exiting through Tuguegarao City.
The government has started preparing more evacuation centers as it anticipates more people to be displaced by the new storm.
The National Disaster Coordinating Council has also started assessing the possible effects of the new typhoon to the government’s relief efforts for the victims of Ondoy.
As of 6 a.m., the NDCC said more than half a million families of 2.50 million individuals have been affected by Ondoy in 11 regions, including Metro Manila and the Calabarzon area in southern Luzon.
It said that a total of 686,699 people are now staying in 726 evacuation centers. It said Ondoy’s death toll has reached 277 and 42 were still missing.
The storm, which also devastated Vietnam and Cambodia, damaged crops and infrastructure worth at least P4.80 billion.

In fairness to PAGASA...
...hanggang warning lang sila.
Sa panahon ng information age ngayon, our forecast is as good as forecast of PAGASA.
Trabaho ito ng DENR through their MGB.

Bagyong Pepeng
I was tracing bagyong ondoy on net on which we know the aftermath from said "tropical depression". What really worries me is this new coming "typhoon pepeng" which i believe has a triple size of ondoy, fiercer than ondoy of twice stronger on sustained winds. Its on way to central Luzon. I appeal to media to pls "inform, warn, notify the public of this new comming typhoon". People needs to be on safer grounds as the amount of rainfall is catastrophic. Pls warn the public early and have them prepared.
Visit http://www.pagasa.dost.gov.ph/ for time to time awareness of new comming typhoon pepeng. God bless us all
