MANILA, Philippines - Donors have upped the stakes for anyone who can pinpoint the perpetrator of the Bar exam blast.

Special investigator IV Cecilio Zamora, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) spokesman, said several donors have offered P1 million to anyone who has information on the bloody incident last September 26.

At least 44 people were hurt in an explosion outside the De La Salle University compound along Taft Avenue, where several groups of people participating in the annual “Salubong” for Bar examinees were gathered.

Zamora said the donors asked not to be named. The group is close to NBI Director Magtanggol Gatdula, he said.

The cash reward is on top of the P200,000 earlier offered by Ateneo Law School-based Fraternal Order of Utopia.

The fraternity said it is giving its all out support to the ongoing investigation currently being done by the Supreme Court.

“Utopia condemns in the strongest terms the irresponsible act of the perpetrators which caused injuries and sufferings to many young people whose aspirations to become lawyers have been adversely affected by this dastardly and cowardly act,” the fraternity said.

Despite the offer however, Manila Police District (MPD) director Chief Superintendent Roberto Rongavilla said nobody is still biting.

He said the MPD is pursuing 3 angles: fraternity war, personal conflict, and a link to the Ampatuans.
