SK polls officially postponed
MANILA - President Aquino on Friday signed a bill postponing the October 28 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in order to pave the way for reforms.
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said the SK elections will now be held between Oct. 28, 2014 and Feb. 23, 2015. Incumbent SK officials will not be allowed to keep their posts on holdover capacities.
Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda earlier said the President sees the need to have the SK system studied further amid calls for reform.
Lack of time to prepare for the SK polls is also being cited as a reason for the postponement.
