Father Oberto Olaguer, chaplain of the maximum security unit of the New Bilibid Prison, said Tuesday that convicted murderer Claudio Teehankee Jr. was still inside the NBP compound days after being granted executive clemency by President Arroyo.

Olaguer said Teehankee is staying in a room in his house inside the prison compound, which is located behind the Ina ng Awa Parish Church.

The priest said he last talked to Teehankee on Monday. He added that the pardoned convict was brought to his home on Monday.

Olaguer said he only learned of Teehankee's pardon Tuesday morning through a television news report.

He said Teehankee is stayting at the same room where former Zamboanga del Norte congressman Romeo Jalosjos, who was convicted of statutory rape, stayed when he was supposed to be released last August.

Olaguer's claim, however, ran in contradiction to an earlier statement by Superintendent Ramon Reyes, head of the maximum security compound.

In an interview on ANC, Reyes said Teehankee was already out of the NBP.

Reyes said Teehankee was released as early as Saturday morning after his papers were processed beginning 10:30 p.m. Friday.

The processing of Teehankee's papers, Reyes added, was finished by 12:30 a.m. Saturday. With reports from Ryan Chua and Ron Gagalac, ABS-CBN News
