Arroyo gov't told: Don't steal Ondoy aid
MANILA - Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo on Thursday called for strict monitoring of over US$13.22 million or P615 million of international aid to victims of tropical storm Ondoy.
“Based on the latest reports from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), donations and pledges from other international organizations and from foreign countries have reached more than US$13.22 million (or around P615 million). These should all go to the victims of typhoon Ondoy,” Ocampo said.
Ocampo suggested that government and private auditors should be tapped for the task of monitoring the acceptance, disbursement and accounting of the funds.
“Given the critical situation of our brothers and sisters in the evacuation centers and areas ravaged by Ondoy, it is urgent to ensure that the funds the Arroyo government received in the name of the victims benefit only the victims and their families. The administration’s well-deserved reputation for corruption leaves one uneasy to think that the money for the victims is left to this government’s management,” Ocampo said.
“Every single centavo must be utilized to ensure the health, security and rehabilitation of the victims and their homes, as well as their damaged communities. The Arroyo government must be frequently reminded that it’s a mortal sin to steal from those who have already lost everything,” Ocampo added.
Out of the total international aid, $7.33 million came from bilateral partners; $3.64 million from multilateral and regional organizations; $283,351 from international organizations; and, US$150,000 from foreign nongovernment organizations.
Data gathered by Bayan Muna from the Department of Foreign Affairs shows the top donor countries:
Canada (US$4.63 million)

Italy (US$314,000)
South Korea (US$300,000)
Switzerland (US$242,000)
Japan (US$223,000)
China (US$140,000)
United States (US$100,000)
Singapore (US$30,000)
France (US$14,583).
The DFA also received donations from Filipino communities abroad amounting US$5,820.
DFA personnel in Philippine embassies and consulates raised $7,802 while other private individuals and groups contributed $64,582.

Hindi natin siya.....
Hindi natin masisisi si Ka Satur sa kanyang panawagan na huwag naman nakawin ang para sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo't baha...ito'y base na rin sa kanyang karanasan sa gobyerno sa kasalukuyan, nagaalala lang siya na baka imbes na sa tunay na mga biktima e sa bulsa lang napunta ang milyong-milyong donasyon galing sa ibang bansa. Alalahanin nalalapit na naman ang eleksyon at tiyak na mangangailangan ng pondo ang mga dupang na politikong iyan. Ang kanyang pag-ngawa ng tinuran mo ms. mathilde ay narapat lang para bigyan naman ng babala ang gobyerno na maawa naman sa taong bayan,,kung tutuusin marami na tayong nabalitaan na donasyon at loans na natanggap ng gobyerno, subalit nasaan na kaya ang mga iyon? Ano na kaya ang nangyari dun sa bandang Visaya na halos ilang bayan ang natabunan ng landslide,,,pagkakaalam ko bumaha din ng tulong at donasyon dun. Nabigyan kaya ng bagong buhay at pabahay ang mga tao dun bilang tulong ng ibang bansa? Iyan ay ilan lang sa mga tanong na ibig ibulalas ni Ka Satur kaya siya nagpapaalala sa gobyerno. Dapat ibigay ang tulong na hindi galing sa bulsa ng gobyerno kundi galing mismo sa ibang bansa..kaya gobyerno MAAWA NAMA SANA KAYO!

alam nyo yang bunganga ni Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo e wla nang sinabing tama kahit oras ng kagipitan e nanamantala yan na isisi lahat sa Arroyo administration..sadyang malala na ang sakit nyan..iniisip nya parati ang kasiraan ng gobyerno, waste of time lang yan ka satur tingin mo papatulan ka ng gobyerno at papakinggan ka ng mga international donors....
Don't steal - Aid
The truth hurts..pero don't worry hindi naman tina tablan ang mga mukha nitong corrupt officials natin (people without conscience and souls can afford to do this) ...I agree with Ocampo..I'll be surprised kung 50% ng aid ang mapupunta sa victims..Nangyari na ito noong pang panahon ni Marcos kaya dapat lang na pakiusapan muna ang mga officials natin na huwag munang magnakaw..please lang..Ninakaw na ninyo ang funds para sa public works kaya walang contingency plans or solutions para sa ganitong emergency. Every year nabaha sa atin kaya lumang problema na ito ang kaso walang bagong solution...Lahat ng pera para sa projects to resolve this problem ay ninanakaw..Tapos in the end iyong mga squatters ang sisisihin...Ika nga "Adding insult to injury"..sino ba ang in charge sa atin...squatters or munisipyo..di ba ang mga Mayors at public officials tulad ni LLDA Manda ang dapat sisihin sa pagdami ng squatters sa tabi ng Laguda Lake..not the other way around...Tanggap ng lahat na dahil sa di pangkaraniwang bagyo si Ondoy at sa ulan na binuhos nito kaya nagka baha pero hindi naman pwedeng tanggapin ng Filipino na pagkatapos ng bagyo ay baha pa din after 2 weeks..Sabi nga ni Manda 3 to 5 months...dapat ma house arrest siya sa isa sa mga lubog na bahay sa Laguna tignan natin kung makatagal siya ng 1 buwan..Lahat kasi ng government officials busy sa pag nanakaw kaya walang pondo para sa public works...
This is hitting below the belt
We all know that Congressman Ocampo hates the Arroyos and the Malacanang dependants, but practically accusing them as thieves and sent warnings to the Arroyo government to behave, is really embarrassing to read, especially if one of the international donors sees this column in our local news. What a bomber!
