(UPDATE) Gunmen strafe Neri's house
MANILA - Social Security System (SSS) President Romulo Neri's house in Quezon City was strafed by unidentified men on board civilian vehicles, not military trucks as earlier reported, on Friday morning.
ABS-CBN's Ricky Carandang reported over ANC that Neri said the strafing took place around 9 a.m.
Carandang said that according to Neri, gunmen wearing military uniform drove by his house and began to strafe it. The SSS president said the shooting lasted for at least 2 minutes.
Neri has informed Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita and Presidential Management Staff chief Hermogenes Esperon Jr. about the incident, the report said.
Neri also said he and members of his household were not hurt.
Neri has been linked to the alleged bribery-ridden $329 million National Broadband Network (NBN) contract between the government and China's ZTE Corp.
The SSS president, former director-general of the National Economic and Development Authority, revealed during a Senate hearing that resigned Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos offered him a P200 million bribe to approve the project.
