Minority chimes in on GMA arrest
MANILA, Philippines - House Minority Leader Rep. Danilo Suarez expressed support on the petition filed by the lawyers of their ally, former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, for her continued hospital arrest.
He said the administration and the Sandiganbayan should give this privilege to the former president because of her deteriorating state of health. He added the hospital arrest should be given as a sign of respect to her being the former president and an incumbent lawmaker.
He urged the Sandiganbayan to immediately grant the request.
This was echoed by another Arroyo supporter, Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay.
The two pointed out ongoing corruption in the administration, the same charges they are throwing at Arroyo.
They noted a Commission on Audit report for 2011 which showed that the administration incurred losses amounting to P102 billion as a result of irregular practices and violations of law, rules and regulations.
