Court resets hearing on GMA hospital arrest
MANILA, Philippines - The Sandiganbayan has reset to October 18 its hearing on former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's urgent motion for hospital arrest.
The anti-graft court said the defense should present witnesses and other evidence to prove Arroyo needs to remain hospitalized.
Arroyo's doctors at the Veterans' Memorial Medical Center will be summoned to substantiate the request.
The former President has been confined at the hospital since last week when she was treated for dehydration.
The anti-graft court ordered her arrest also last week over plunder charges stemming from the alleged misuse of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office funds.
Arroyo supporters gathered outside the VMMC this morning to hold a prayer vigil.
