MANILA, Philippines - Vice-President Jejomar Binay on Wednesday downplayed suggestions that he seems to be more visible than President Benigno Aquino III during disasters.
Binay said he was only doing his job in helping oversee relief operations for calamity victims.
"Hindi naman, ito ngang nakaraan nagmando lang ako ng tulong sa mga nasalanta," he explained.
Binay also rubbished a belief that his visibility could be a strategy for the next elections.
He has not denied reports that he plans to run as president in the 2016 national elections.
"Anlayo pa nun. Baka tayo mapagbintangan na mamumulitika," Binay said. "There will always be a time for that."
"In the meantime, kailangan mag concentrate sa responsibilidad na iniatas sa akin ni Presidente. Meron pa kaming human trafficking then against illegal recruiters," he added.
Binay, meanwhile, welcomed the high satisfaction ratings he continues to enjoy.
He again topped the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey results on satisfaction ratings of government officials.
He had a net +63 rating, higher than Aquino's net +56, and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile's net +35.
"Good territory kasi, modesty aside, naka number 1 pa rin ako... trusted and in terms of performance," Binay said.
"Okay lang. Iyung binaba nun kasi nadagdagan ang undecided, hindi yung ayaw," he added, citing a 6-point dip in his rating from a previous SWS poll.
"Ipagpapatuloy ang dati kong ginagawa. Andami kong trabaho," Binay said.
