MANILA, Philippines - A disqualified party-list group engaged in animal sacrifice outside the Commission on Elections (Comelec) building in Manila after asking the poll body to reconsider its decision.

In a statement, the Alliance for Rural Concerns (ARC) party said the Comelec erred in disqualifying them since their constituents are marginalized farmers.

ARC President Roy Ribo said the party filed a motion for reconsideration before the Comelec despite the poll body's advice that they take their case to the Supreme Court.

Ribo and his party mates held a ritual outside the Comelec office where they killed a live chicken as a ritual offering to make sure the process is clean.

Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez said the appeal is a prohibited pleading, maintaining that the group should have instead gone to the Supreme Court.
