Carandang is new overall Deputy Ombudsman
MANILA - President Aquino has appointed the new 'Number 2' man in the Office of the Ombudsman following the retirement of Overall Deputy Ombudsman Orlando Casimiro last August 23.
Assistant Ombudsman Melchor Carandang was appointed to assume Casimiro's post, in a one-page transmittal letter from the office of Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr., dated October 14, 2013, to Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Carandang was appointed Assistant Ombudsman during the tenure of then Ombudsman Simeon Marcelo, founding partner of the Villaraza Cruz Marcelo law office, more popularly known as "The Firm."
He was re-appointed as Assistant Ombudsman by Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales.
Carandang notched 5 votes from the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC).
