MANILA, Philippines - Vice-president Jejomar Binay wants a review of the government's cease-fire agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) following recent clashes with the group in parts of Mindanao.

"I strongly urge that we revisit the terms of the cease-fire agreement with the MILF," Binay said. "We should be very clear about accountabilities. Those who violate it should be punished."

"There should be greater candor, acceptance of responsibilities and a display of good faith," he added.

Binay also offered his condolences to the families of those who died.

The military has blamed the MILF for the recent Basilan clashes, saying MILF members engaged government troops who were pursuing lawless elements. -- Report from ANC
