Loren: Team-up with Chiz not yet sealed
MANILA - Sen. Loren Legarda on Saturday said the "Chiz-Loren" tandem in 2010 is not yet sealed, hinting that she is still open to running with other presidential aspirants.
"Ang maliwanag dito, ako ay naglahad ng plataporma ko at kung sino ang makakapagpatupad ng aking makakalikasan, makatao at makabayang plataporma ang siyang tingin ko na aking magiging katambal," Legarda told radio dzMM.
The senator said she and Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero, who has delayed his declaration to run for president in 2010, have been engaged in talks about their plan for next year's elections.
"Patuloy kaming mag-uusap ngayong linggong ito," she said.
The senator added that other groups, including the camps of presidential aspirants Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro and Sen. Manuel Villar, have been courting her for a possible team-up in 2010.
She maintained that a team-up with Teodoro, who is running under the banner of the political administration's Lakas-Kampi-CMD party, would be impossible because she is not planning to leave the political opposition and her party, the Nationalist People's Coalition.
Legarda, meanwhile, refused to directly answer if there is a chance for her to run in tandem with fellow oppositionist, Villar, who is running under the Nacionalista Party.
NPC head is for Chiz-Loren tandem
Pangasinan Rep. Mark Cojuangco, who was present when Legarda declared her vice-presidential bid at Rizal Park in Manila on Friday, had said that his father, NPC chairman Danding Cojuangco is committed to supporting the Chiz-Loren tandem.
Cojuangco also belied reports that his father may also back Teodoro's bid, which sparked rumors of a possible "Gibo-Loren" tandem.
Speaking before a crowd of supporters, Legarda announced her "pro-poor, pro-environment" platform. She said it was her intention to educate and protect every Filipino from the effects of poverty and climate change.
"We all need a strong economy but it should be felt by every sector and every Filipino. No Filipino should die for lack of money for hospitalization or lack of medicine. No Filipino should die of hunger because they have no food. We should take care of the farmers and the fishermen. We should help feed the people who are feeding us," she said.
The senator did not immediately declare her vice-presidential bid in her speech, and disclosed her political plan only after being asked by members of the media.
In declaring her bid to once again run for the second highest office, Legarda pointed to her humanitarian work as the main reason for her bid and said she was “heeding the call of the people.”

kaya nalilito yan si loren dahil gusto talaga nya maging presidente. that's it. wala naman sa kanyang puso ang pagiging VP. Sad to say, wala kaseng nag-pu-push sa kanya at kulang sa suporta. napakarami nang naghihirap sa pilipinas, puro sarili pa rin ang ina-atupag. walang sense of self-sacrifice. buti na lang si mar roxas nag-sakripisyo. kung para sa pagbabago si loren sana meron na syang magandang plano matagal na. hindi kung ngayon lang mamimili ng partido. this shows na mahina ang planning nya and that will also be a reflection of her being a leader. walang sense of foresight. parang gobyerno natin ngayon. puro reactive sa mga malalaking problema. pwede naman sana magawan ng paraan pero walang pro-active na mga plans and action.di sya bagay para maging VP ni chiz. chiz has focus and determination. at ang importante hindi corrupt.

If Sen. LOREN LEGARDA runs with VILLAR, the move will greatly affect the IMAGE of CHIZ ESCUDERO! CHIZ ESCUDERO will appear like an "orphan"! It will greatly deminish his "winnability" factor! And CHIZ ESCUDERO cannot run for the Presidency with a "shared" Vice Presidential candidate!
The same opinion goes to Sen. LOREM LEGARDA! Dhe cannot run for the Vice Presidency under two teamates, dhe should choose between CHIZ or MANNY!

I had to go to Legaspi Airport to help pick up my cousin from Manila and hurried back to continue to comment on Erap being allowed to run for President. I had the argument ready and tested with my relatives: The government made ERAP accept a contract during the acceptance of the pardon. That contract established the government believed Erap could legally run for president because he did not finish out his complete term. The government then believed Erap could legally run for president or why include that in the pardon, if that article was accurate. (Contractual Law) But Loren Legarda running for vice president is the new headliner. And my response is: Legarda is the only woman in history who has topped the Senate race twice, once in 1998 with over 15 million votes and in 2007 with over 18 million votes. --- From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. It is a matter of realistic promises and the belief she will carry it out. The president will have to worry about the high price of commodities of food and gasoline. The young motorcycle drivers are going to be a force in Metro Manila as the news just announced another price increase on gasoline. That VAT on gasoline would be my issue. Who will take that on?
