(UPDATED) Trouble brewing in Chiz's camp
MANILA - Trouble is brewing in the camp of presidential aspirant Senator Francis 'Chiz' Escudero.
Senior campaign strategist Marilou Tiquia told abs-cbnNEWS.com/Newsbreak she's leaving Escudero's camp effective end of October.
Escudero is expected to officially announce his presidential bid soon. His political advertisements are already being aired on television and radio.
Tiquia was a campaign manager of Manuel 'Mar' Roxas II, whose first place finish in the 2004 elections was largely credited to his creative 'Mr. Palengke' campaign.
Tiquia joined Escudero's camp months ago to monitor his performance in the surveys and assess his chances in the presidential race before making a decision on whether to join the race.
Tiquia did not give any reason for leaving Escudero. "It's a long story," she said.
Asked for comment, Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) secretary-general Rizal Rep. Michael John 'Jack' Duavit downplayed Tiquia's decision to leave.
"We have a new integrated team now," he said.
Tiquia's resignation comes on the heels of the following developments in the NPC:
- three postponements of Escudero's official announcement of his presidential bid, supposedly due to the typhoons;
- reports that NPC founder and chair emeritus Eduardo 'Danding' Cojuangco Jr. is negotiating with cousin, former Tarlac Rep. Jose 'Peping' Cojuangco, so that the family would support the presidential bid of Senator Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino III of the Liberal Party;
- reports that vice-presidential aspirant Senator Loren Legarda, supposedly Escudero's running mate, is being courted by administration bet Gilbert Teodoro and Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manny Villar.
In response, Duavit described these reports as "cute tsismis."

An Escudero and Legarda team up might really work!
An Escudero and Legarda team up might really work like Superman and Wonder Woman to save the Philippines. I did not think the country would support Senator Legarda for president because of six years of GMA, but the women voters would not want to be left out in the political process and would rally for a woman vice president. Senator Escudero just turning 40 would get the younger generation of college kids and first time workers. Jobs creation for the children would be his issue and add women that are mostly teachers by profession in the mix that I thought would go to a Harvard Man with a law degree; Chiz and Loren have a realistic chance to win. Teodoro will get the professionals with college degrees, Manny Villar if he runs will more likely get the business community. And Noy Noy looks like he will get the support of the priests and the ministers and the entertainers. Like always who will win in the barangay population, the majority? The price of commodities like food and gasoline? Long lines of free rice are not much of a campaign promise for people with pride, even for the poor. Hi to all. By basing on all the comments I read here, is there any presidential that meets the criteria that we’re looking for because on my insight, there is no perfect person. Basta hindi sya sangkot sa corruption at anomalya, pasado na sa akin. As example ay parang presidente na napakagaling ay nag-angat ng 100 billion pesos para sa pilipinas pero 50 billion lang napunta sa kaban ng bayan. Mas pipiliin ko pa ang isang matinong presidente na naka-angkat lang ng 70 billion pesos para sa pilipinas pero buong-buo ay napunta sa kaban ng bayan. My point is that our first concern should be on corruption issues whether noon o ngayon. Sa ngayon kaya maryoon bang kanditato ng pagka-presidente na di marunong magnakaw?????????????

Ito namang si Chiz pa hele-hele pa bago quiere. Sabi niya pag dating ng 40th birthday, mag announce siya ng real intent. Tapos sabi on October 12. Many Filipinos want to vote for Chiz pero pagka ganyan na pa hele-hele pa siya at umaarte na parang babaeng pakipot maraming ma tu-turn off sa kanya.
