NBI locates Taruc in US, eyes extradition
MANILA, Philippines – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Interpol division has located the whereabouts of Jose Taruc, one of the co-accused in the plunder case filed against former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Taruc allegedly left the country via flight CX900 last July 19 and arrived in Los Angeles, California via flight CX882 from Hong Kong.
He initially registered that he was staying at the Hilton Hotel.
He is carrying a tourist visa that is valid for 10 years.
The NBI is preparing a request through the Department of Justice to extradite Taruc after an arrest warrant was issued against him.
The reported locations of other co-accused, Fatima Valdes and Rosario Uriarte, have also been identified, but the NBI is still verifying the reports.
