MANILA - Sen. Manuel Roxas II on Tuesday revealed that he wants to have children with his bride-to-be Korina Sanchez immediately after their wedding.

An excited Roxas said he is looking forward to the day when he and Korina would spend quiet Sunday lunches with their children and even grandchildren.

"Ang unang agenda sa abot kaya ng panahon at tuhod ko ay magkaroon ng mga anak...Ang sarap isipin na sana may mga chikiting kami at nakaupo kami sa sofa. Nai-imagine ko yung Sunday lunch na magkasama kami at mga anak namin at mga apo sana. Komportableng-komportable yung imahe sa puso ko at sa kaisipan ko. Kaya dumating na 'This is it!'" he said in an interview with dzMM anchor Ted Failon.

[First on my agenda as far as time and my knees permit is to have children...It's refreshing to imagine that we will have our own tots and we will sit on a sofa. We would have Sunday lunch, together with the kids and hopefully, grandkids. I'm very comfortable with that image in my heart and mind. That is why I said, 'This is it!']

Roxas said that after their wedding on Tuesday, he and Korina will take some quiet time together on their honeymoon. Sanchez later revealed that they would take an eight-day honeymoon in Japan before coming back for Roxas' filing of certificate of candidacy for the 2010 vice-presidential election.

The senator said he felt both tense and excited after waking up on Tuesday, knowing that he would be a married man at the end of the day. He said he will be visiting the grave of his father, the late Sen. Gerardo Roxas, before preparing for the wedding at the Santo Domingo Church in Quezon City at 3 p.m.

 Marriage is like bungee-jumping

For her part, Sanchez said taking the plunge into married life was like "bungee jumping."

"Parang bungee jumping. Para siyang isang malalim na malalim na talon tapos hindi mo talaga matitiyak kung ano ang kalala-landingan mo pero dahil mahigpit ang pagkakatali sa iyong binti ng lubid ng pagmamahal, alam mong ligtas ka na lalanding kung saan ka man pupunta. It's really a very exciting adventure," Sanchez said in a separate interview with Failon.

[It's like bungee jumping. It's like jumping from a great height and not knowing where you'll land but because there's a rope of love strapped to your legs, you know that you'll land safely where ever you land.]

Sanchez, who lost her parents years ago, said that she already sought the guidance of her beloved mother and father through prayers. She is also planning to visit the grave of her parents after the wedding to share her happiness as Mrs. Korina Sanchez-Roxas.

"Sa pagkakataong ito, ang balak  ko din ay pupuntahan ko din ang puntod ng mother and father ko ng naka-trahe de boda na ako kasi gusto kong makita nila akong ganoon," the journalist said.

Sanchez said that she's also hoping that like her parents, she and the senator will always be there for each other. She said she will ask the guidance of her parents in becoming a politician's wife, which she described as the biggest challenge in her life.

 Wedding pedicab

The wedding, which joins the grandson of the late president Manuel Roxas and one of the country's top TV journalists, promises to draw a crowd of thousands at the Santo Domingo Church.

At least 200 policemen have been deployed at the church while another 60 guards will serve as close-in security for the couple. An estimated 2,000 guests are expected to arrive at the church before 3 p.m.

Police said only 40 car passes were issued to guests who will be parking inside the church compound.  Well-wishers are advised to use the Alabang Gate to enter the compound.

At least four giant video screens were set up outside the church to broadcast the wedding ceremony inside. Tents were also set up outside the church to shield guests from a possible downpour.

The church will be decorated with Sanchez's favorite flowers including rosal, white roses, and sampaguita.

A radio dzMM report also said a flower-covered pedicab has been placed outside the church, which will be used by the couple after the wedding.

Roxas used a pedicab in his political advertisements before his decision to back out from the presidential race to give way to Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino. He later agreed to become Aquino's running mate in the 2010 polls.

Aquino is one of the sponsors of the Sanchez-Roxas nuptials as a stand-in for his mother, the late president Cory Aquino. Aside from Aquino, the sponsors are Chief Justice Reynato Puno, former Senate president Jovito Salonga, ABS-CBN president Eugenio Lopez III, Jorge Araneta, Red Cross governor Rosa Rosal, broadcast journalist Cheche Lazaro, Ruby Roxas, Baby Fores and Helen Costales.

 Roxas' son is best man

Roxas, meanwhile, brought his 16-year-old son, Paolo, to Manila North Cemetery Tuesday to visit the grave of his father, the late Sen. Gerardo Roxas, and older brother, Gerardo Jr.

A radio dzMM report said Roxas wept a little at the cemetery before introducing his son to reporters.

"[Paolo's] my best man. I taught him to shave and how to wear a barong without it getting crumpled. He's very happy for me," he said.

Roxas, who turned 52 last May, said he decided to marry Sanchez after their relationship stood the test of time for more than five years.

"Hindi ito biglaan. Dumating na lang sa punto na kung mayroon akong makakasama sa pagkatahimik ay si Korina na [This is not sudden. I just came to the point that if I would finally settle down, it would be with Korina]," he said.

He also jokingly said that of all his previous relationships "si Korina lang ang nagtiyaga sa akin talaga [Only Korina put up with me]."

Roxas said explaining how much he loved Korina would take up too much time, only saying that the two of them were a match. He also said that Sanchez finally made him understand how it feels to have someone love and take care of you.

"Well, mahal ko siya. Kumpleto siya bilang tao. She's a whole person. Totoo siya. Dumating na lang sa akin isang araw na - nasabi ko ito kay Korina at hindi niya gusto ito dahil edad ang napag-usapan - sabi ko 'Honey, pagtanda na natin at hindi na ako makalakad o makatakbo, hihingal-hingalin na ako. Gusto ko tayo pa rin.' At sabi niya, 'Oo naman, tayo pa rin.'

"Yung kasabihan na 'I've got your back', na magkasangga kayo. Ramdam ko yun kay Korina at sana ramdam niya rin sa akin. Yun ang naiisip at naramdaman ko. Ito talaga yung katuwang mo at kasama mo kaya ipormal na natin."
