Palace: No internal survey showing drop in PNoy's rating
MANILA - The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs denied a newspaper report about an alleged internal survey which showed a dramatic drop in the approval rating of President Benigno Aquino III following the pork barrel scam.
"I strongly and categorically deny that there was any survey commissioned by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs concerning the President's approval rating or any other public official for that matter," Presidential political adviser Ronald Llamas said in a statement.
Llamas belied the numbers in the alleged survey, pointing out recent surveys conducted by the Social Weather Stations and Pulse Asia showing relatively high ratings of the President.
"As far as my office is concerned, the results of the recent surveys conducted by the country's top two polling opinion bodies are enough to measure the people's continued trust and support to President Aquino," he said.
"In the SWS survey reported in the BusinessWorld last October 14, 2013, the President continues to enjoy positive approval ratings. As Mahar Mangahas explained it in his recent article, 'PNoy's rating has never been double-downgraded. None of the previous four presidents were as popular as PNoy is now at the same stage, or at any later stage, of their terms,’” he said.
“On the other hand, the Pulse Asia Ulat ng Bayan Survey for September 2013 showed that the President's performance approval rating climbed from 73 to 79, representing a 6-point increase, while his trust rating remains high at 76 percent,” Llamas added.
