DPWH activates Lakbay Alalay Program
MANILA -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has activated its Lakbay Alalay Program for those travelling to the provinces for the All Saints' Day weekend.
DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson said he has instructed regional directors and district engineers nationwide to implement the program until 12 noon of November 4, Monday.
DPWH teams have been dispatched in strategic locations along national highways for the expected influx of motorists going to both public and private cemeteries in the cities and provinces.
Groups of engineers and mechanics have been deployed to assist motorists who may encounter problems while on the road.
Singson also reminded DPWH personnel to ensure that proper signage, warning and readable directional signs along the national roads and all ongoing projects are installed properly.
"All ongoing road construction should have warning signs with deployed traffic aides/personnel to manage traffic and reduce inconvenience to public," he said.
Meanwhile, for those headed north, the DPWH suggested the following alternate routes to avoid the heavy traffic build-up at the Tarlac-Pangasinan boundary along MacArthur Highway.
Carmen - Rosales - Sta. Maria - Asingan - Binalonan Road (Magilas Trail);
Binalonan - Laoac - Pozorrubio Road;
