Evangelina Lourdes 'Luli' Arroyo married J. Aloysius 'Luigi' Bernas at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Scholastica's Convent in Tagaytay City, sources told ABS-CBN News reporter RG Cruz.

Unlike the weddings of her two brothers, only a handful of people were invited to the wedding of President Arroyo's daughter, Cruz said.

ABS-CBN News earlier reported that the wedding was in Tagaytay Highlights. Cruz tried to enter the privately-owned estate on Wednesday to confirm this, but was prevented by security guards.

The guards said they had not been advised about any special event.

Cruz said things appeared normal at Tagaytay Highlands, unlike before when security would be tight whenever the President would be there.

Up until early Wednesday afternoon, the Office of the President was mum on whether the President's only daughter would get married.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said it was a private family matter.

Sources close to the couple and the family have been asked not to speak about the event.

The 37-year-old Luli, in an e-mail last October 30 to RG Cruz, said she did not want to comment about her private life.

abs-cbnNEWS.com/Newsbreak, quoting sources close to the couple, earlier reported that the wedding would be on January 9 in Bohol.

Bernas is a former investment banker and ex-director of Ayala Foundation.
