Congress urged to OK budget, sin taxes before holidays
MANILA, Philippines - The Palace is hoping that Congress will pass the budget and the sin tax measure before it goes on holiday break.
On the responsible parenthood (RH) bill, Lacierda said the consolidated version no longer contains provisions that the anti-RH groups find objectionable.
He added that Palace officials are also attending a committee hearing on the freedom of information bill in the lower House Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Lacierda said the Palace recognizes that criminal elements are using juveniles to commit crime because they know that the law would not punish juveniles.
He said policy discussions are underway in Congress to amend the law.
Counseling is also being done by the Department of Social Welfare and Development for delinquent juveniles turned over to them.
