Profile of Edu Manzano
MANILA-(UPDATED)-The vice presidential bet of Lakas-Kampi-CMD was born on September 14, 1955 in San Francisco, California.
He was christened Eduardo Lorenzo Barrios Manzano.
At 17 years old, Manzano became a US serviceman and stayed enlisted for four years.
After his military service, he went to the Philippines where he chose to settle.
In the late 70's, Manzano entered show business, and starred in movies such as “Kapag Puso'y Sinugatan” and “Romansa.”
Many pegged Manzano into villain roles, but later he ventured into comedy and dramatic roles.
In 1991, he won a Famas award for best supporting actor in the movie, “Kaaway ng Batas.”
Manzano is also best remembered for his characters in “Captain Barbell,” “Separada,” and “Batang PX.”
Two decades after his breakthrough into showbiz, Manzano handled late-night talks shows and game show franchises from “1 vs 100” and “Pilipinas: Game Ka Na Ba?”
Manzano's stint as a public servant bloomed in 1998 when he became the vice-mayor of Makati.
In 2001, he ran for mayor of Makati but lost to incumbent, Jejomar Binay.
On February 2004, President Arroyo Appointed Manzano as chairman of the Optical Media Board (OMB).
But last August 20, Manzano resigned as OMB chief. He was replaced by action star Ronnie Ricketts.
Manzano is the father of actor Luis Manzano and is the former husband of Batangas Governor Vilma Santos.
He was also once married to actress Maricel Soriano.
Manzano is also a co-founder of the non-profit organization called "Ako Mismo". – report from ANC

@mhykel - I think what ocsd10 meant was Gibo being a Cojuangco and being affiliated to Danding. Correct me na lang if I'm wrong. And I agree with what you said about the 4.5%. That share in ownership has no deciding power so we can't blame Noynoy for not being able to make a conclusion on the Hacienda Luisita issue BUT Noynoy SHOULD make a stand soon on this and other issues to show that he is really a champion of the poor and also as progressive as their party promotes their Noy-Mar tandem. Mahirap mapapaniwala ang mga nasa ibaba kung laki nga naman siyang mayaman. Yun kasi ang gagamitin ng mga detractors at kritiko niya, lalo na ng mga kalaban niya sa pagtakbo sa pagkapresidente. Nakakapanghinayang din dahil tanggap lang sila nang tanggap sa partido nila ng mga TraPo (Traditional Politicians) kahit sinasabi nilang gusto nilang baguhin and sistema ng politika sa bansa.
@lito santos - I agree! If you can remember, Edu lost a lot of money running against Binay for Makati Mayor a few years back. Maybe its money that drives him now to run. I just hope that he realizes how much this will hurt his image.

On Edu being a US Citizen
FYI: Edu is still a natural born Filipino citizen. He is also a US citizen simply because he was born there.
A natural-born Filipino is one who has a Filipno father or a Filipino mother.
Our constitution does not bar any one who has a dual citizenship to run as President. He/she only needs to be a natural-born Filipino, able to read and write, at least 40 years old, and a register voter.

Very basic ang pagpili ng susunod na Presidente ng Pilipinas. Yong hindi MAGNANAKAW ! Tama o Mali ? You had your time of having brilliant, economist Presidents but they ended up crooks.
The Presidential candidate who will be spending 3 to 5 billion pesos from his own pocket and business financiers in the 2010 elections will surely recover the said expenses in the event he wins from FAT GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS AND OTHER SOURCES IN THE GOVERNMENT. The candidate who claims he will not recover his billions and that he's giving them free for the sake of the country is a pathological liar.
When this new President and his business fianciers start to recover his campaign
expenses, then what reforms are you talking about ???? Corruption will start all over again and maybe much worst that Gloria Arroyo. No change will happen in the Philippines. So it is really up to you people to decide the future of your country. You deserve the kind of government to have.
Edu for VP
Edu's profile did not mention anything about his educational qualifications. All that was mentioned was just his being an actor and a former public servant. Sayang si Edu, from this time on he will have to swallow all the things Gloria Arroyo stands for. He will have to submit and admit that Gloria and Mike Arroyo are not corrupt and that they are model citizens of the republic and poverty does not exist in the country because the economy is doing well according to Gloria, the economist.
Edu, did you get the wrong advice? Or malaki ang binayad sa iyo dahil hirap talaga si Gibo humanap ng VP..
