Jamby slams Loren over Villar acquittal
MANILA - Sen. Ma. Ana Consuelo "Jamby" Madrigal condemned Tuesday as "political prostitution" the decision of 12 senators to dismiss ethics charges against Sen. Manuel "Manny" Villar.
In a statement, Madrigal criticized Sen. Loren Legarda for shifting sides and joining Villar despite being one of the latter's former critics. Sources said Villar is set to announce his team-up with Legarda for the 2010 elections on Tuesday afternoon.
"My fight against corruption is non-negotiable. I congratulate Mr. Villar for his fantastic lobbying in turning someone like Senator Legarda, who was rabidly against him into his girl Friday. As they say, Manny talks and money talks louder. I will not subscribe to political prostitution when the country's interest is at stake. Public service is not a numbers game," Madrigal said in a statement.
Twelve senators signed a resolution to dismiss Monday night the ethics complaint against Villar in connection with the alleged “double insertion” in the budget of funding for the C5 extension road that allegedly benefited Villar’s real estate business
In Resolution 1472, the senators voted to dismiss the case filed by Madrigal, and clear Villar of charges that: one, he maliciously committed “double insertion” in the 2008 budget, an act that constituted “disorderly behavior”; two, that he influenced the alignment of the C5 road extension project to ensure that his real properties in Las Pinas and Paranaque would be taken as right-of-ways (ROWs) for the project, where Villar would drive huge personal benefits; three, that he caused the sale of the landholdings of his companies to the government at grossly overpriced cost; and fourth, that he violated the Antigraft and Corrupt Practices Act, and the Code of Ethical Standards for Public Officials.
Those who signed the resolution 1472 are Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel, and Sens. Alan Peter Cayetano, Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Gregoriio Honasan, Joker Arroyo, Miriam Santiago, Ramon revilla Jr., Jinggoy Estrada, Loren Legarda, Francis Pangilinan and Villar himself.
In clearing Villar, the Resolution authors said “there is nothing to hold Villar liable for disorderly behavior” in the performance of his duties as senator, despite the presentation by Madrigal of her evidence and witnesses in 20 hearings. The allegation of “double insertion” was not established, said the senators; on the contrary, these were not insertions but amendments that the Senate had approved in the 2008 budget, including the P400 million that Senator Villar recommended but which the Senate reduced to P200 million as its allocation for the C5 project.
“The Senate also finds there is no realignment” of the project just to suit Villar’s property development, as the record showed there were actually two alignments which are separate and distinct from each other. The first is the C5 road extension project, a public road; the other is the toll expressway project which, if completed, would require payment of toll by its users.
With 12 of the 23 senators signing the resolution, this means there won't be enough votes to convict Villar of unethical conduct.
The Committee of the Whole which investigated Villar wrapped up hearings almost two months ago, and was in the process of deliberating on their findings.
Villar managed to secure 12 votes apparently after sealing a deal with Legarda to be his vice presidential candidate in the 2010 elections.
Ironically, Legarda was among those who pushed for Villar's ouster as Senate president and his subsequent investigation for alleged unethical conduct. With a report from Lynda Jumilla, ABS-CBN News

If their numbers climb after all these politcal moves i guess their decisions were sound. If not i suggest they focus on the issues. Sabi dito sa survey ng ABS-CBN ang primary issue ng 2010 election is corruption. The best way to tackle that issue is to commit to the prosecution of GMA and his officials.
For Gibo, start condemning the excesses and corruption issues of GMA. For Villar, wag mo nang balikan si Noynoy sa SCTEX sabi sa iyo magbabackfire lang yan premise mo 16 vs 100 pesos sa mantalang sa iyo is 2,000 vs 13,000. Gawin mo yung positive campaign na sinasabi mo.
Expose nyong dalawa yung stock manipulation sa mining and yung contract with china and how much money ang matitira pag naupo na ang bagong presidente.
Villar and Loren
Sige gastos lang ng gastos, ganyan din ginawa ni Pichay pero natalo pa rin sya. ni hindi nga umabot sa number 13 eh. Sa mga kababayan kong sumusuporta sa kanila, i respect your choice, and i respect your reason for supporting them.
Sa akin: Si Villar ay kalaban ng kalikasan dahil:
-sa mga punong pinutol nya para maipatayo ang mga subdivision, at mga burol at bundok na kinayod nya... result po nito ay landslides.
-sa mga sapa at ilog na tinabunan o dinvert nya para maipatayo ang mga subdibisyon nya... result po nito ay pagbaha.
-sa mga agricultural land na pinaconvert nya para itayo ang mga subdivision nya.... result po nito ay kakulangan sa pagkain.
Sa akin: Si loren ay:
- kalaban na rin ng kalikasan dahil sa pagsuporta nya kay villar
- isang political buttefly (sabi nga ng iba political prostitute) dahil sa pagbabago nya ng pusisyon sa isyung dati nyang pinaglalaban.
Ang aking kinakatakot pag sila ang manalo tiyak na babawiin nila ang kanilang investment...
Kung talagang public service gusto nila, sana binabaan nila yung interest ng in-house financing ng mga pabahay nila. Sana nagpagawa sila ng mga housing project doon sa mga nadisplaced nilang squatters bago nila ipatayo yung mga subdivision nila. Sana tumanggap sya ng fair and equitable payment doon sa mga ariariaan nyang tinamaan ng C-5. di po equitable ang 13,000 per square meter habang ang nakapaligid na lupa ay nasa 2,000 per squater meter lamang. Kahit na po sabihin pa ng BIR na 13,000 pa ang value ng lupa. Di naman tanga mga pilipino alam ng lahat na madaling bayaran ang BIR.
Loren - Political Prostitute Daw?

Nakakatakot mga kababayan Senator pa lang si Villar ay kaya na nyang aregluhin yun C5 anomaly paano pa kung maging presidente kayang kaya ipagtakpan ang mga bilyones na transaction ng gobyerno.
Ang hindi ko masukat yun mga senators na pumirma sa dismissa case laban kay Villar. Minasan hinagangahan ko si Pimentel, Joker Arroyo at Pangilinan sa kanilang maka masa at human rights advocacy but now nasilaw sila sa money influence ni Villar.
Hindi nakapagtataka etong mga senator na magkandidato muli ay pupirma rin sa pangunguna ni Jingoy Estrada, Bong Revilla, Pia Cayetano, Miriam Santiago at Lito Lapid kailangan nila ang pera para sa kampanya.
Lalong higit na nakakapagtaka sa lahat magdalena ng senado na palipat lipat kada election ay pera rin ang katapat. Kung hindi kaya mayaman si Villar sasanib kaya siya?

Minsan nangyari na sa impeachment ni erap di ba ayaw pabuksa yun envelope na may pangalan ni Erap ano nganyari? dahil duon natanggal sa pagka presidente si Erap. Please I call the remaining senators specially Jamby Madrigal and Ping Lacson to continue the inquiry and exposed the c5 controversy lalo na si Villar ay nagkakandidato para malaman ng tao kung nagtatago siya sa kanyang maskara of corruption.
Hindi pa lumalabas yun committee report pero inunahan na nila na to dismmiss the case against Villar.

I share your opinion Titing - ABS-CBN is a Cory country and naturally for Noynoy and Mar that is why only positive news are magnified for them. Party shifting by politicians are readily available from them while the others (Lakas/NPC, etc were never aired).
Come on ABS-CBN, lets play it fair and square!
