The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday announced an impending revamp of police officials holding sensitive positions, including three members of the so-called "Euro Generals."

Chief Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome, PNP spokesman, was quick to clarify that the revamp has nothing to do with the controversy involving eight police officials who recently attended the 77th Interpol Assembly in St. Petersburg, Russia last month.

Bartolome said the revamp is a "normal movement" within the police organization, adding that the reshuffle will be implemented because of the scheduled retirement of Deputy Chief for Administration (DCA) Emmanuel Carta.

Carta, who will retire on January, will be replaced effective on Wednesday by Deputy Director General Ismael Rafanan.

Carta and Rafanan were among the eight police officials who attended the Interpol assembly.

Bartolome said Carta had requested to be placed on a "non-duty" or floating status to take care of documents for his retirement.

Deputy Director General Geary Barias, who is currently The Chief of Directorial Staff (TCDS), will assume the post of Deputy Chief of Operations, which will be vacated by Rafanan.

Taking Barias post as TCDS Director Jefferson Soriano, who will turn over his post as chief of the National Capital Region Police Office to Director Leopoldo Bataoil.

Bataoil, currently the chief of the Police Community Relations, will be replaced by Director German Doria, who is also among the "Euro Generals."

Doria's current post as head of the Directorate for Human Rerouse and Doctrine Development will be given to Chief Superintendent Sukarno Ikbala.

PNP still waiting for 105,000 euros

Meanwhile, Bartolome said the PNP is still waiting for the Russian authorities to turn over and wire transfer the 105,000 euros recovered from retired comptroller Eliseo de la Paz last October.

The PNP spokesman said they had already given the proper documents to Russian authorities, but for unknown reasons, the money has not been returned to the police organization.

Bartolome said if the money is not returned to the PNP, it will be forced to take the amount from De la Paz's retirement package.
