Recto to Osmeña: I did nothing wrong
MANILA - Former socioeconomic planning secretary Ralph Recto on Thursday said he was surprised by news that former senator Sergio Osmeña is bolting Liberal Party because of him.
"My service in government is of public record. It is one unstained by any charge of corruption or wrongdoing," Recto said in a statement, reacting to reports that Osmeña did not want to be part of a senatorial slate with a former administration ally.
Before joining the LP, Recto was with the Lakas-Kampi-CMD Party, which fielded him as part of its senatorial slate in the 2007 polls. He lost.
In mid-2008, President Arroyo appointed him as Director General of the National Economic Development Authority, the economic planning agency. He resigned last August to prepare for another Senate run in the 2010 elections.
Recto bolted the administration party recently and joined the LP.
Osmeña, who also recently joined the LP, allegedly raised before the party leadership the Revised Value-Added Tax (RVAT) Law, which Recto authored. The tax law, which helped the government avert a fiscal crisis by removing exemptions on the importation of petroleum and imposed additional collections on electricity sales.
Osmeña reportedly expressed his reservations on the positions Recto took during his stint at the Senate, citing that these are contradictory to the new politics and reforms that the LP tandem of Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas are espousing.
Party affiliation
"Nasorpresa ako sa balita na nagbabalak ang aking kaibigang si Serge Osmeña na lumisan sa LP dahil sa pagsanib ko sa kilusan ni Noynoy at Mar para sa malinis na politika (I was surprised by news that my friend Serge Osmeña is planning to leave LP because I'm joining the movement of Noynoy and Mar for clean politics)," Recto said.
He stressed that he has never allowed his administration allies to influence his decisions when he was a Senator.
"I have never allowed any party affiliation to get in the way of my principles," he insisted.
He said he has opposed several measures sponsored by the administration, including Executive Order 464, which prevented public officials from appearing in congressional investigations of anomalies involving government officials.
Recto also cited other administration measures he opposed, including the CPR (calibrated pre-emptive response), the national ID system, activists’ killings and the state of emergency proclamation in 2006.
Courting Serge
Erin Tañada, LP spokesperson and vice-president for advocacy, said Aquino and the party leadership are now reaching out to Osmeña to convince him to return to the party.
"Nagri-reach out po si Senator Noynoy kay Senator Serge Osmeña. As a matter of fact, we will always reserve a slot for him," Tañada said.
He said the LP leadership is trying to enter into a dialogue with the former senator to get him back.
Osmeña has been included in the LP's senatorial slate. He was reported to have left LP last Wednesday.
Aside from Osmeña and Recto, the other senatorial candidates of the LP announced on Monday included detained Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim, former senator Franklin Drilon, Muntinlupa Rep. Rozzano "Ruffy" Biazon, Bukidnon 2nd District Rep. Teofisto "TG" Guingona III, Akbayan Rep. Ana Theresia Hontiveros-Baraquel, former congressman Nereus Acosta, and Sonia Roco, widow of the late senator Raul Roco.

HACIENDA LUISITA MASSACRES- people been killed during rally.They were small farmers fighting against the hacienda luisita.These people been killed to fight for their rights.Because they were from poor family,they can't find who's the responsible to this horrible crimes.These poor FILIPINO people can't even hire a good lawyer to get justices for their love ones.

Several years ago, there was a French Engineer consultant of a World Bank assisted project going to the DPWH main office where Bayani Fernando holding office then, he once said that Bayani is a tough nut to crack. Sometime during the Senate inquiry about NBN / ZTE, it overlapped to the WB assisted projects and Senator Lacson mentioned that Bayani Fernando did not signed the project and probably cost his Public Works portfolio.

Did nothing wrong?
You did join the administration which has already been tainted with corruption and which did not have the guts to defend itself by letting the impeachment proceedings take place and reveal the truth.
As long as you were part of the admin, you can't say that you did not do anything wrong. Cabinet officials already turned their back on the admin after the Hello Garci Scandal. Why did you join? It was wrong.
Those who were part of the admin or aligned with its party must not be voted into office and that includes Teodoro, Fernando, and Recto.
They did not take the stand to unearth the truth during the Hello Garci, Fertilizer, and ZTE scandals.
When a scandal happens again, they will not sacrifice their positions.

We the Filipino voters need to know who's the real Noynoy Cojuangco Aquino and Gibo Cojuangco Teodoro.If Bayani Fernando win,he will investigate the corrruptions and he will give justices to all Hacienda Luisita victims.
The Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway was a flagship project of President Gloria Arroyo, together with the Cojuangco-Aquino family, owners of Hacienda Luisita, and the Lopez family through First Philippine Infrastructure Inc..(CAMA) REAL FAMILY TIED OF COJUANGCO-AQUINO MACAPAGAL-ARROYO.
The Japan Bank and International Corp. funded the project through a special yen loan amounting to P21.393 billion. The state-owned Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) provided P4 billion as counterpart.
Remulla said the issue affects taxpayers because of the loan component. “It's a heavy burden for taxpayers.”
We the FILIPINO people will pay for their socialized loan.These budget are equivalent of all budget for the whole country.Because of Noynoy/Cojuangco- ARROYO,the arroyo administrations put all the money in one project,and the budget supposed to be for the whole country.
Walang Tiwala sa Sarili
Yan ang mga taong walang paninindigan at tiwala sa sarili,kaya si Recto nag resigned dahil sa kanyang balak na tumakbo bilang Senador,at nag dadakdak kunyari laban sa administrasyon para bumango at pa pogi sa taong bayan.Nag mamalinis? sa tagal sa goberno maniniwala ba kayo na walang kinurakot o hindi nagngungurakot?
Kaya tumiwalag ang akala niya mai sasalba niya ang kanyang sarili,at manalo sa eleksyon.Tinulungan ng administrasyon manalo ang kanya asawa na si Vilma pero anong ginawa nila nag traydor.
Kaya makikita niyo kong anong klasing mga tao ito.Kong may tiwala ka Mr. Recto sa sarili mo kahit saan kang partido mananalo ka, wag mong gamitin ang LP para sa sarili mong interest.Sasabihin mong inuutusan ka ng mga tao na tulungan si Noynoy, ngayon lang> na darating ang eleksyon?? Gimmick mo.
Mga kababayan tapusin na natin itong mga trapos, taga batangas hindi niyo ba kayang palitan na ninyo ang mga trapos sa bayan niyo.

about eVAT
I am supporting and will be voting for Noynoy, my senatorial line-up includes Hontiveros, Biason, and a few more. I'm not sure if I am going to vote for Ralph though but i would like to be fair to the man.
First, eVAT originated from the house, like all tax measures. The senate version may have come from ralph but lets be fair, it wouldnt have passed into law if the other senators didnt vote for its passage.
Second, eVAT was able to save the country in general during the global economic slowdown. There was economic activity because of the BPOs and the OFWs.
Please note that GMA did not have anything to do with these, and should not be credited for the Philippines surviving the economic slowdown. Aside from manipulating and changing how the GNP and GDP is computed to show positive growth, GMA can only be credited with EO839 or the oil price freeze which is an economic stupidity.
third, politics is addition, if ralph and vi can deliver batanggas for NOynoy, to affirm the result of the surveys i guess their inclussoin to LPs line should be considered.

Recto should have declined to be appointed by Arroyo after knowing about HELLO GARCI and ZTE scandal. LP should not have accepted him for the next elections. Recto appears to be an oppurtunist. Now LP, by accepting administration officials is also appearing to be opportunist by accepting opponents just to win the next election instead of being true to its ideals. How can they say that anti-corruption sila kung yung mga myembrong tinatanggap did not excercise delikadeza by bolting the administration during the peak times of the scandals.
Somehow there's truth to what ocsd10 is saying about traditional politics and politicians. It was good to hear from LP that the next election is a fight against evil. I'm voting for LP. But what now pains me is that LP is becoming just the lesser of the other evils. If they keep on accepting questionable candidates, they will become equal to other evils.
