Gov Vi downplays Serge's break with LP
Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto downplayed Friday the decision of former senator Sergio Osmeña III to shun the Liberal Party because he did not want to be affiliated with the Rectos.
Recto, wife of former socioeconomic planning secretary Ralph Recto, said they should not be blamed for Osmeña's decision.
"Ganyan talaga ang pulitika. Di naman kami nagprisinta, kami naman ang inimbita! At kapag kami ang inimbitahan ibig sabihin naniniwala sila sa amin. If we don't please everybody let it be. Di namin problema yun," she said in an interview.
Osmeña, member of the PDP-Laban, earlier said he would only return to the LP senatorial slate if the party kicks out the former NEDA chief.
He said Recto's inclusion in the LP's senatorial slate was one of the demands of Vilma Santos before agreeing to become the party's gubernatorial bet in Batangas.
"It was a package deal. They wanted Vilma to be their gubernatorial candidate in Batangas... I think everybody knows that you can't be purist, but in this particular case, unfortunately, Vilma has a husband who wants to be a senator and made it one of her conditions," he said.
Recto, in a statement released Thursday, insisted that he and Santos were invited by the LP.
“Unang-una, kami ang inimbitahan ng LP at hindi kami ang nag-apply,” he said.
He added that he has a clean record as a public official and has never allowed his party affiliation to get in the way of his principles.
Recto lost in the 2007 senatorial elections under the Team Unity coalition. He was appointed head of the state economic planning agency, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), by President Arroyo in 2008, and resigned the post last August to pursue another run for the Senate.
Osmeña said he was against Recto's inclusion in the LP senatorial slate because it he "does not fit the image of what we want him (Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III) to project to the nation, to show goodwill in bringing about politics and decency in government."

The Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway was a flagship project of President Gloria Arroyo, together with the Cojuangco-Aquino family, owners of Hacienda Luisita, and the Lopez family through First Philippine Infrastructure Inc..(CAMA) REAL FAMILY TIED OF COJUANGCO-AQUINO MACAPAGAL-ARROYO.
The Japan Bank and International Corp. funded the project through a special yen loan amounting to P21.393 billion. The state-owned Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) provided P4 billion as counterpart.
Remulla said the issue affects taxpayers because of the loan component. “It's a heavy burden for taxpayers.”
We the FILIPINO people will pay for their socialized loan.These budget are equivalent of all budget for the whole country.Because of Noynoy/Cojuangco- ARROYO,the arroyo administrations put all the money in one project,and the budget supposed to be for the whole country.

Ironic that part of Recto's political resume is his association with the incumbent Administration. However, Recto and Belmonte are the select few among (former) the Arroyo allies that we can respect for their hard work and dedication.
It is a fact that Recto is the principal author of VAT, which according to the Administration help save the country from financial crisis. But, it is upon the discretion of the Administration and Congress whether to suspend or repeal the VAT. This is beyond Recto's capability.
Now, if Osmena is a true gentleman and an honorable person, he would provide the public a more specific details about Recto.
Otherwise, this whole drama of leaving LP because of the Recto is nothing but a propaganda to place himself morally upright above others.
This to me is a sign of SELFISHNESS and IRRESPONSIBLE.
