But DILG chief Robredo says photos are fake

MANILA, Philippines - The mug shots of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo which circulated on the Internet on Monday are authentic, a police officer said.

In an interview with ANC, Senior Police Superintendent James Bucayu of the Southern Police District (SPD) said the photos which first came out in mugshots.com are real.

He denied the photos were leaked from his office following appeals from the Arroyo camp that the former president be treated with respect.

“The CIDG [Criminal Investigation and Detection Group] was the one who took the pictures, we just shared copies,” he said.

Aside from the CIDG, the court was also furnished with copies of the mug shots. The Pasay RTC yesterday banned the release of the mug shots.

Bucayu said he had to compare the leaked photos with their own copies. True enough, he said the photos are authentic.

Citing a report he received, Arroyo’s neck brace was not removed when the mug shots were taken because of her delicate condition following several surgeries for her neck ailments.

Bucayu said he was not around when the mug shots were taken because there were too many people inside the hospital room then.

He said Arroyo had to lie down when her fingerprints were taken.

He said an investigation is now ongoing to determine if someone from his office leaked the photos. The violator faces a maximum penalty, which is removal from service, he said.

Arroyo was booked and her mug shots taken on Saturday.

The Commission on Elections filed electoral sabotage charges against Arroyo on Friday, and a Pasay Regional Trial Court (RTC) then issued an arrest warrant.

Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, however, denied the photos are real, radio dzMM reported on Tuesday.

The booking numbers below the published photos are reportedly different from the report submitted to Robredo. -- with reports from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM, ANC

Gloria Arroyo’s downfall actually started in July

By Raïssa Robles

The Arroyo camp is complaining that the Commission on Elections and the Department of Justice “railroaded” and “rushed” the electoral sabotage case against her.

The truth is the opposite of that. The “evidence” of Arroyo’s crime first came to light on July 11 this year and quickly unfolded from there.

Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and former Muslim Autonomous Region Governor Zaldy Ampatuan share a meal in happier times

It all began when Zaldy Ampatuan – a suspected mass murderer whom Arroyo handpicked to be Governor of the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) – suddenly told ABS-CBN TV that his family helped rig the 2007 polls for Arroyo in their home province of Maguindanao.

sana maglabas ng WANTED poster with these pics

would be nice to see a big WANTED sign on top of these pics...

Wanted?

Wanted? how could you say that knowing GMA is in custody of PNP and within the Hospital? Do you know what you saying?

NOT VERY HUMANE !

I look with so much dissapointment that a former President's mug shot was made public. This is not the way we attain justice (if indeed there was injustice perpetrated by her)

I have exactly the same feeling when I saw the mug shots of former President Joseph Estrada.. I do not condone any impropriety they "may' have done... but we do have courts to decide on that....

Let us give these people a litte bit of dignity... after all, I still believe that she has done something good one way or the other to the filipino people. If indeed she has committed a crime... let justice takes it course... But we can still have that without humiliating and taking away dignity to any former President of the Republic.

At ang bayan ay nagtatanong..!

Bakit kaya hindi siya kaawa-awa? Wala man lang nagmamalasakit sa kanya - maliban sa kanyang mga bayarang taga-simpatiya.

Each fool is articulate, period!

sabi nga ni lacson....

"Ang nakakaawa kay GMA, walang naaawa sa kanya.. kaya nakakaawa sya."
