Midas Marquez undergoes drug test
MANILA, Philippines - Jose Midas Marquez, Court Administrator of the Supreme Court, submitted himself to a drug test Monday after the flag ceremony of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Quezon City.
Derrick Carreon, chief of the PDEA public information office, said Marquez voluntarily submitted himself to the drug test after he confirmed that he would be Guest of Honor and Speaker during the flag-raising ceremony.
Before the drug test, Marquez talked about the seriousness of the drug problem and the need to fast-track cases.
PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac praised Marquez's move as the "very essence of leadership by example as exemplified by Justice Marquez."
"This is an expression of support to the national anti-drug campaign and he showed this to the public by submitting himself to drug testing," he said in a statement.
The drug test was administered by the PDEA Laboratory Service.
