LP warns: Martial law a ploy for Cha-cha?
MANILA - The Liberal Party (LP) on Saturday opposed the declaration of martial law in Maguindanao, and expressed fear that Malacañang's bigger agenda was to get Congress to meet jointly for Charter change.
"The Liberal Party believes that the declaration of martial law in Maguindanao is an over-reaction. The LP believes that the declaration of martial law fails the constitutional test," LP spokesman Quezon province Rep. Lorenzo Tañada III said.
The LP, which is fielding front runners Senators Benigno Aquino III and Manuel Roxas II in the May 2010 elections, is wary of Malacañang's agenda in declaring martial law in Maguindanao.
"The people should remain vigilant. Malacañang has found a way to get the House and Senate to meet jointly. There might be another agenda once Congress meets jointly," Tañada said.
Charter change measures are pending in Congress. The House of Representatives has already passed House Resolution 1109 convening Congress into a Constituent Assembly to amend the Constitution.
Under the 1987 Constitution, the declaration of martial law needs the approval of Congress meeting jointly.
The last time Congress met jointly was in July 2009 for President Arroyo's State of the Nation Address. Malacañang critics then feared that administration allies would force the convening of the Constituent Assembly, but it did not happen.

Ano ba ang nagawa nyo sabayan natin para mapabuti? lalo nyo lang ginugulo ang isipan ng mga kababayan natin, mali o tama ang gawin ng gobyerno laging putak ng putak maganda sigurong gawin nyo tumulong nalang kayo para maresolba ang problema ng bansa natin dapat sa atin ay mag tulungan hindi yung oppose ng oppose ano ba maitutulong nun?.

Right.
Before, I thought LP is the Party that will eventually take us out of this hell. But the way things are transpiring, gradually I feel dubious about their real purpose.
If I would to assess, chances are 60% I would vote for Noynoy and Mar, 40% for Gordon and Fernando. After this news though, I feel like I'd rather go with Gordon.
The basis of LP's stand against the Martial Law declaration is SO SHALLOW. It's all speculations, paranoia. It's only to show that they are against Arroyo admin- without even seriously weighing if the matter at hand is indeed needed.
I could not let the future of our nation run by these people.
Since it's very obvious na namumulitika lang sila, I appeal to the readers of this section to go for GORDON. Abandon, Noynoy.
