Gloria Arroyo's life in danger - doctor
MANILA - The latest medical certificate of former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo shows her condition is getting worse.
Dated November 14, 2013, the medical certificate reads her current situation may “cause serious impairment to her health and danger to her life, unless attended to promptly.”
The certificate reads: “The present diagnosis is cervical spondyolotic radiculopathy. Degenerative lumbar spine disease and post cervical spine decompression with instrumentation. A repeat MRI study showed a multi-level lumbar spine stenosis with nerve root compression and a bone densitometry test showed evidence of osteoporosis. These findings correlate with her symptoms of continued cervical and lumbar pain with further deterioration of her poor physical health.”
The certificate was signed by Dr. Antonio Sison of the Department of Orthopedics at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
She is detained at the hospital for plunder charges in connection with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PSCO) fund scam. She is appealing the court's denial of her bail petition.
1BAP Party-list Rep. Silvestre Bello III, a former Arroyo Cabinet secretary, earlier filed a resolution urging the Sandiganbayan to grant a Christmas furlough for Arroyo.
He hopes the Sandiganbayan will allow Arroyo to have a furlough with her family from December 21 to 30. Bello said the number of days will be up to the discretion of the court.
