SC grants ABP status quo ante order
MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court has granted the group Alliance of Bicolnon Party (ABP or ABP-Bicolnon) a status quo ante order for its petition for certiorari against the Comelec en banc resolution that disqualified ABP from participating in the 2013 mid-term polls as party-list contender. It, however, stays as a political party.
In a press statement, ABP Chairman Enrique O. Olonan, together with ABP sectoral arm, Masang Mamamayang Kabalikat, Inc., expressed temporary relief with the issuance of the SQA order.
With this, the ABP will officially be included in the roster of party list groups for the May 2013 elections.
ABP, with MMK, seeks to represent construction workers in Congress.
Olonan is an architect by profession, while his father was a construction worker. Olonan initiated the building of three TESDA-accredited training centers in Viga and Pandan towns of Catanduanes and in Antipolo, Rizal.
