Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao finally met President Arroyo in Malacañang, hours after arriving from his victorious bout against Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya in Las Vegas over the weekend.

Pacquiao had a lengthy chat with Mrs. Arroyo and narrated to the president some scenes of his biggest fight last Saturday.

Mrs. Arroyo was heard telling Pacquiao that he was not the underdog in the fight after he beat the Golden Boy like a punching bag all throughout the eight rounds of boxing.

De la Hoya was forced to throw the white towel at the start of the ninth round after being almost beaten to a pulp by The Pacman.

Before sitting with Mrs. Arroyo on a sofa, Pacquiao handed over to the president a miniature WBC lightweight belt that he snatched from Mexican David Diaz.

At the end of their conversation, Mrs. Arroyo surprised Pacquiao with a birthday cake with a red glove design and words "world's #1 pound-for-pound boxer."

Before the courtesy call to Mrs. Arroyo, Pacquiao heard the 8 a.m. Mass at the crowded Black Nazarene church in Quiapo.

Fans flocked to the church to take a peek of the Filipino boxing icon. Several politicians were also seen sitting with The Pacman at the church.

Pacquiao's Philippine Airlines flight PR103 touched down at the NAIA Terminal 2 at 4:43 a.m. Wednesday. He left Los Angeles around 10 p.m. with his team.

From the airport, Pacquiao went straight to the New World Renaissance Hotel in Makati City for a brief rest.

The government has arranged a huge motorcade for Pacquiao on Thursday, which will start in Quezon City and end at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Pacquiao was expected to fly to General Santos City to celebrate his 30th birthday on December 17 with his family. He will fly back to Los Angeles to spend Christmas with his two sons, daughter and pregnant wife, Jinky.

The boxing idol said he plans to stay in the United States until the New Year.
